            Band Interview: Featuring Mrs. Quarto

By: Courtney Wilson and Logan Hubanks.

Have you ever wondered how the band holds up during a pandemic? Last semester, we interviewed Mrs. Quarto on that very topic. Band is defined as a type of music played by representatives, in this case, students. The students learn how to play the instrument they are best at. They start of by seeing which mouth piece is best for them. After this they get the instrument and learn how to play it. Band is a lovely type of thing to listen to, and even play.

During Mrs. Quarto's interview, we asked these questions, "Why are you a music teacher?" and "How did music become you career?"

She answered the questions by stating, "I always loved music. I was in Girl Scouts, and I loved it.  I went to college for a music major. I wanted to go in a band, plus I taught all ages of all music."

Additionally, we also asked, "How have your teachings changed due to the virus?"

She answered, "We have to separate kids, and the instruments have to have covers. The band can't rehearse together, and lastly, we added online testing for band."  She meant they can't rehearse together as the whole band. For the bands online testing, they use Smart-Music.

Finally, Mrs. Quarto was asked, "How is the virus affecting your performances?"

She answered, "We have to wait to safely to have students and audience in the same place.  It’s a bummer."  When Mrs. Quarto stated this, it truly sounded like a part of band being taken away.

To this end, the band has been affected by this virus, and more. It has not been the same, but the band is still fighting against this virus.
